The contribution of the Translation course

This course was really helpful for me not only as an English speaker but also as a teacher. First of all I learned that translation itself has theories and approaches. The very first step is to know what translation is. Knowing your target text very well is not enough and you should also know the source text very well to be able to make a good and successful translation. We should also consider the culture, time, idioms, and cognates and so on while we are translating.

As an English teacher having learned so many theories and approaches of translation will help me not to force my students to translate a text at the beginning of such a class, however I would definitely teach them the theories first of all and than want from them to translate a text correctly.

In this course the articles that we made and the discussions that we have in class were very helpful for my translation view. I learned so many new things in this course like; film translations, how to do them correctly and or the history of translation, translation theories and actually what a translation is or what it should be like.

Being able to use the language from A to B is a must for professional English teachers and translation is also included in this field. This course was helpful for me to develop myself and I decided somehow to specialize in this field. Because it is interesting to deal with this kind of studies and knowing other cultures and languages like your native language is also a good part of it.

The articles were really nice and helpful to understand this course better. I enjoyed this course very much! J
